How To Article

This article is to educate you about the ways in which you can help put a stop to world poverty. A lot of people believe to do something, they need money and power. But with the evolution of the world, taking an action goes way beyond money and power. Some of the ways that child/world poverty can be eradicated include, but are not limited to;

  1. Education: This is a two-way process. To educate another, one needs to be quite educated themselves. Understanding what poverty is and its effects on the world is the first step to poverty eradication. By educating the children, they will acquire the knowledge and life skills needed to realize their full potential.
  2. Health Care: The implementation of comprehensive programs of preventive medicine, including immunization and control of communicable diseases should be implemented. This holds extreme importance, because of the rapid spread of diseases. Plans and help should be rendered to communities to build clinics, train health care workers, and invest in equipment and medicine so children cam grow up healthy and strong.
  3. Water and Sanitation: No matter how good the health care system is, if there is no proper sanitation, then all actions are counterproductive, as water and sanitation are essential for every child's survival. Building latrines in schools, community water points, and organizing groups that takes charge of its maintenance, can help with its control.
  4. Discrimination: Research has shown that women fall into poverty more easily and more frequently than men. Ending discrimination against women and girls, and promoting gender equality between men and women are critical for the eradication of poverty, as women should be allowed to provide income to their families as well.
  5. Economic Security: Economic security is a necessity for a nation to thrive. Building a strong government that is able to make the nation feel safe is a step to this. For many, in under-developed countries, people are scared to leave their home to make a living. Securing the citizens' safety allows them to leave their homes for work, thereby flourishing the economy.
  6. Global Alliance: The world has its focus on becoming one, in order to make it a better place for everyone. A global alliance must be forged by the entire international community, with the United Nations, government, International financial institutions, regional organizations, civil society, and private sectors joining hands to make poverty eradication a central goal of humanity.
  7.  Child Participation: It is necessary that children know their rights and take active roles within their communities. When children are able to participate in activities within their communities, it helps them in voicing their views and opinions, and allows them to make decisions that will help shape their future and influence those around them.
  8. Productive Employment: Employment is a key essential in eradicating poverty. Allowing for self-employment helps shape the economy, providing jobs for those in the community, and helping enhance the community globally. It also helps create access of the poor to land, capital, and other productive resources.
  9. Social Services: Social services also plays a key role in poverty eradication. The government should help families by creating access to necessary amenities, in the way of social services. When some of the human necessities are provided, it puts off pressure from citizens and allows them to be able to focus on what is most important.
  10. Corruption: Corruption is the worst of all evils and fighting corruption is mandatory for reducing, preventing, and eradicating poverty. In under-developed countries, it has been seen that corruption sometimes prevail the nation's benefits.
  11. Agriculture: Reforming agricultural policies and processes is a core strategy in sustaining development. Over 65% of the poor in developing countries live in rural areas and depend on agriculture for their livelihoods. As agriculture is the world's largest source of employment, malnutrition and food insecurity suffocate all attempts at development and progress. Deterioration to natural resources, infrastructure, and poor information often result in food insecurity, premature deaths, and mass migration to urban areas in search of a "better life."
  12. Individual Responsibility: This is a big part in eradicating poverty, as the individuals living in poverty must want to win the "poverty war" themselves for the eradication to actually take place. This goes along with individuals' cultures and religions, that comes in the way of them evolving. The relevant human qualities such as honesty, willingness to be a good citizen and work, and cooperation can also be harnessed in accomplishing enormous demanding goals when members of society trust that they are protected by standards of justice and assured of benefits that apply to all, equally.
  13. Extremes of Wealth: The wealth of many of the world's richest individuals exceed the Gross Domestic Product of entire nations, extreme poverty and extreme wealth exist side by side. There lies a concentration of wealth in the hands of the few that needs to be addressed.
Now that we have talked about specific ways that child/world poverty can be eradicated, it is time to know how we can go about it.
  • The first thing that we must do is not be afraid to talk about it, because poverty does exists and if it is not acknowledged, then it can never be dealt with. Also, the more you talk about it, the more you enlighten others and make known of what is really going on in certain places of the world.
  • Next, is to find people that have similar interests as you. Two heads are better than one, so collaborate with them and connect with them. Bring together ideas on exact steps that need to be taken.
  • Lastly, find people that have already started working on your goals. These include organizations, groups, that are already taking actions. People are more willing to take you seriously if they have seen your previous work of success. Joining an already successful group might be smarter for some. I realize that some already have their own personal groups set up, not as popular as other organization, but when there is drive and passion, others will want to join you in making your goals realized.
Also, there are people that want to take action, but are not capable of doing so physically or through some kind of power. But there are other ways to help out that can be through "spreading the word" on social media, letting families and friends know of your knowledge on poverty, and even personally creating blogs and websites that are easy to find by the world.
